Increase the Synergy among different Energy Networks
The SENERGY NETS project will highlight the benefits arising from integrating electricity, gas, heating and cooling systems.

Project Brief
SENERGY NETS aims at demonstrating the technical and economic capability of existing multi-energy systems to decarbonise the heating and cooling, electricity and gas sectors.
These multi-energy systems will integrate as much as possible renewable energy sources produced locally and will be structured according to a sector integration approach, focusing also on promising infrastructure and business models.
4 Elements
Energy Networks
Multi-Energy Systems
The key benefits from MES lie in their capability to provide flexibility to the power system, which is inherent in their virtual storage options coming from thermo-chemical features, e.g., thermal inertia in heat networks, linepack flexibility from gas networks, and so on.
Sector Integration
SENERGY NETS Solutions
A set of high TRL tools that includes Multi-Energy Systems design and simulation, a long-term planning tool for flexibility and an operational planning tool for DSOs, energy management system for flexibility provision, and flexibility trading optimiser.
Sector Integration
Sector integration involves planning and operating the energy system across multiple energy carriers and consumption sectors. This interlinks electricity, heat, cold, gas, solid and liquid fuels with buildings, transport, and industry.

Energy Networks
Energy Networks are the networks for delivering energy from producers to consumers. This project focuses on the networks delivering electricity, natural gas and heating & cooling (district energy systems).
