Between 26-28 November, members of SENERGY NETS were in Milan to discuss the project, present the results, and share updates on the democases. Hosted by A2A, some partners could also visit the Canavese power plant, a demo case in the project, and see first-hand the changes in place.
The partners of SENERGY NETS met in Milan, Italy, for the project’s review and consortium meetings, a significant milestone marking the third year of work and the beginning of the final sprint toward next year’s results.
The first day focused on the consortium meeting, where work package leaders presented progress, shared newly developed results, and outlined the upcoming activities. A highlight of the day was the presentation of the Pandaprosumer tool by Hyacinthe Ménard from EIFER. Developed within SENERGY NETS, this electric grid simulation tool enables detailed analysis of local energy flows, storage solutions, and distributed generation in smart grid environments.
Project activities continue to advance steadily. In the Milan and Ljubljana demonstration sites, the main work is now complete. In Paris, some delays occurred due to data collection challenges, but mitigation measures have been implemented, and results are expected to be delivered soon. Updates were also shared by the follower cases in Córdoba (Spain) and Västerås (Sweden).

SENERGY NETS benefits from a remarkably diverse set of demonstration sites, spread around five different countries – France, Italy, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. Differences in network profiles, urban density, geographical conditions, and climate characteristics help ensure that the project’s solutions are replicable across Europe. Replicability is a core component of the project and was a central theme during the meeting, with ongoing analyses assessing which types of networks can benefit most from the project’s insights.
The following two days were dedicated to the review meeting, where work package leaders and the project coordinator met with the project officer to discuss key tasks for the final project year. Participants also visited the Canavese plant, located in eastern Milan — a major facility supplying heat to numerous neighbourhoods and a key part of the city’s district heating network.
After an intense year of work, partners will now enjoy a well-deserved holiday break following the discussions in Milan. Activities will resume next year, with many more studies and outcomes on the horizon!
